Been reading alot of posts here and trying to learn about pullin and classes ect. Looks like it would be alot of fun.

Question is about my tractor. I am restoring a 1960 GVI MM. Going to work 'er some on the farm, maybe some parades and some local plow days. Not sure where she would fit in at tractor pulls. Can you give me some ideas of what I can pull in. She is pure stock.

Thanks for any insight.

NOHOG I am originally from Lawrence, KS and I know that they do quite a bit of pulling in that area. McClouth, Lawrence, Vinland, Osage City, etc..

I am not sure of the classes anymore but we used to pull our 1960 JD 630 many years ago.
Just post a message on for my brother Jim Johnson he should be able to give you some info for this area and maybe some more.

There is also a group around Wichita that has a sled. They just had a pull back on the 5th in Wichita. It was a NATPA pull which cuts off at 1957. Most all the clubs will let you pull exhibition for just the hook fee.
Hope this helps.
Gary

Johndeereman, thanks for the invite but I'm located in central KS. Right now I don't know of any local pullin clubs but maybe they's out there.
John B. Ind., I had read about the year limits somewhere and was wondering how strict that was. With GVI's they were made from 59-61 and were all essentially the same so does that have any effect on getting in.

If I can't find any pullin' clubs around here I may just have to try and start one. We have tons of antique tractors around here. Does a pullin club have to have a sled? or can we just chain some old green and red iron together and pull them around until we get a sled? :D
Thanks for all the insight,

Later..... ..... ....NOHOG

Locally if the series started in 1959, like a 460 for instance, and you had a 1960-61 tractor we would accept that. The 1959 rule was started years ago to keep the "New" era tractors, with the bigger 6 cylinders [new style JD's ect] from pulling with the antiques. I've yet to go to a pull that they wouldn't let a tractor like yours to pull exibition as long as the entry fee was paid. If you set your tractor up to match the rules, weight, hitch height ect. at least when you get done pulling you would know how you stack up against tractors like yours who do fit the year rules. Check around, you'd be suprised how many pulls there are in your greater area.

To new for antique pulling. Most pulls are 1959 or older. Some 1957 or older. Some places do have farm stock pulls though.
