You can use an ohmmeter test and it will show if a coil is definitely BAD (an open circuit) but it will not tell if its GOOD. The reason is the continuity of the LV primary and HV secondary windings can test fine BUTTTTTTT theres a breakdown at high voltage or high temperature.
An ohmmeter across the LV primary as measured between its lil + and - will be in the vicinity of 1 to 4 ohms (depends on coil) and in the HV secondary maybe 5000 to 10,000 ohms
You can also open n close the points and each time they were closed and the coil conducted current via a good closed set of points, but then the points open, there should be a spark which you can check via a coil wire from the coils HV output tower (use a coil or plug wire) to within say 1/4 inch or so from tractor frame/iron.
PS Im NOT a Ford man and unsure of the coils configuration or access to its lil + and - terminals or HV output, sorry.
