: what model is this looks like TO 35 but older single stick and not continental engilne.

Ed,
I have a TO 30, S#79651, modified with over-size sleeves and pistons a few years before
I bought it in 1992. The engine block, on left side (distr. side) is marked Z129, which
means a Continental engine. The original engine power was about 30 hp, but with the mod-
ification, it's about 34 or so. The sleeve/piston assembly is almost $300 at Temco in Mem-
phis. This tractor was not as popular as the 8N (25hp) but could perform better in my op-
inion. It handles a 5'Bush Hog (Brand) easily, and the person I bought the bush-hog from
had an 8N and he could not lift/use the bush-hog..he had to use a light-weight 4'. If your
repairs total less than $600, it would be worth-while to keep/repair it. Also, those old
models used a positive ground/6v battery. Not being concerned about light failure, I in-
stalled a neg. grd, 12v battery, cheaper and more easily available. The starter is wound
for low volt/hi amp service, and it can easily perform with a hi volt, low amp...compare
the 6v and 12v battery cables, 12v is smaller. Polarity should not be a problem, starter
still rotates the same direction.
