: : : Hello,

: : : I just bought a 1 wire Delco alternator and mounted it on my Farmall 450. I was told it works when the engine is at a higher REV. Question, where does the wire go, straight to the Battery? My concern not knowing anything specific about this unit other than its a delco is that it will over charge my Battery. Do I need some new fangled Regulator or will it do everything by itself. Help me.

: : Eric, if you want to know if its putting out charge, crank the tractor, pull the positive battery cable, if it contiues to run it is charging.

: Quicker way to tell if a Delco alternator is charging is to touch the bearing in the center of the rear housing with a screwdriver, pocket knife, or nail. With the engine running the bearing will be magnetized if it's charging, and won't if it isn't. Try it sometime.

you can also touch the stator ( which is usually exposed) in the center of altternator ,if it is hot or warm ,its charging!! jack
