I"m a Ford guy but currently drive an 07 GMC half ton 4X4 crew cab. I bought it because it only had 9000 miles on it. Im not thrilled. It is a grocery getter, not a truck. It has way too few springs. It sags in the rear with my empty bumper trailer.
I couldn"t have been more thrilled with my old 97 ford. Problem is that I crashed it. I couldn"t find a ford for as few dollars as this GMC. I now know why.
One of my best friends is a full time mechanic. He told me that Ford half ton trucks came to his shop with very few problems. His only complaint was the spark plugs twisting off in the cylinder head. He puts Chevy transmissions and differentials in regularly but has never installed one on a ford newer than 2004. He told me he drove a Chevy because of the ribbing he would get for driving a ford. He said a dodge has never been an option.
There is a reason that ford didn"t need a government bailout.
