Our funny farm........

You could call our place Murphy's Farm cause if it's gonna happen, it's gonna happen at our place......

We have our horses scattered around on pastures except for the stallion, his eggless buddy and an expectant (real late) mare that are/were in paddocks in the back yard. Real simple paddocks that are 10'x30' seperated by 5 row stock panels. Inside the open fronted building they are seperated by 3 rail gates that start about knee high. Been watching the mare real close cause she was at a year of pregnancy but no signs that she would have the baby before a few more days..... Not....................

Had night shift and was on my way home Tuesday morning and checking the other horses before going home. Getting ready to leave the last ones and get home when wife called and said a baby was hungry and couldn't get to mom. We just had a litter of pups the evening before and I figured one squirmed into a bad spot. Got home a couple minutes later and the mare had a big stud colt that had slipped itself under the gate before it was able to get on it's feet. Happened a few hours before but the baby was on it's feet and cleaned off and trying to find a milk bar on the stallion. Had a hard time getting them seperated and the baby with the right mom but all is well. The stallion is still nervous and looking for his baby. Sure wish animals could talk cause I'd like to know what happened. Stallion must have a feminin side or is reincarnated catholic priest......
