Do I or Don't I

Hello all my wittle twactor buddies. Well, I've put a lot of money into my AC WD45 and it still needs a lot more. I just don't know if I should keep sinking money into it. Sometimes I think I should just go out and buy a new wittle twactor. All of you who have the same dilemma, what are your thoughts? Is it worth it? I love my wittle twactor ---- what has been your experiences? Honestly, it is sometimes my only connection to the past and the way life used to be: pure and simple and good, but ....... Thanks to you all for your thoughts.

I wouldn't give up on my old tractor no more than I'd give up on my old dog, or a member of the family. Anyone can buy a new tractor, and after you do what have you got? You might have a new little tractor, but it won't be a WD-45 by a long shot. I think a WD-45 is one of the best tractors ever built.

Well I spend more money on a 300 dollar tractor than I can count. I found it's easy to forget on how much you spend by losing the receipt.

I ended up with way more in mine than what it was worth, but I wanted it and plan to keep it til it outlasts me. And if I keep my head on straight it won't be it that takes me to the hereafter... I darn near accomplished that once...

I will bet you have more money in your wife's car than it is worth, I have a lawn mower that cost around 8,000.00 new and now it is worth 1500.00. Keep the AC.

Keep ploughing the mony in, after awhile you can justify buying a new one to your wife. It helps to come in several times a week with your nuckels skinned and you clothes all greasy.

You will never recoup your expenditure so don't falter. Fufil your original dreams. Feel the inner glow as opposed to a hollow feeling. Lamenting to the end..

I tort I taw a puddy cat.

Welcome to the reality of using/restoring an old tractor. You can usually buy a completely redone tractor for less than it cost to go through one. The common tractors did not hold there value this last economic down turn. A good WD45 can be bought around here for the $1000-2000 dollar range. Value depending on the tires. There where many thousands of them built. The same thing has happened to the letter series JD and the old Case letter series too.

Another thing that is happening. People tend to collect what they grew up on. The birth date of the collectors is moving up to the newer tractors. The new generation JD are getting real expensive compared to just a few years ago.

Just came back from having mine reinspected (first inspection had 5 gigs) Inspection would have been good only one year because it expired last year (2 years on tractors) but the guy saw the work that was done, right without scabbing, new tires, and everything clean and started me over with a fresh 2 years. Took several years to get there because I use it every day. But made a list of everything that wasn't right (no matter how small) prioritised, and started nugging. Just could use paint now but I'm not really in the mood to do it. I won't part with it now.

Couldn't see myself spending the money or getting attached to a new one.

Like folks on here told me along the way. You know what you have now.

Keep da AC.

New tractor won't ever bring a grin.

Old tractor will bring a smile every time.

We restore and use these old tractors for the pleasure of it, because we want to, not for the $$$.

The pleasure they give back can't be measured in $$$.
