rubber problem

Is there an adhesive to fasten rubber to steel?
I built a bucket elevator for my grain cleaner and
I want to cover the steel roller with rubber.
The people on this forum have more knowledge than
any where else I could ask. Thanks
Chas.

3M weatherstrip adhesive will stick about anything along that line. That's what it's made for.

You will find that truck undercoating(bed liner) will hold most any product to steel.Herculiner by trade name. We use it all the time when we need to bond plastic (i/e) tail light housing to Hay wagon. Also use it when patching holes in frame, bell housings,(salt damaged items) with gal sheet steel. I should have added, that's from the auto parts store not the hardware. It's for sticking weatherstrip and molding and such back on cars after a paint job. I've even used the stuff to stick seals in to hubs when they don't fit tight. The guy at the parts store says he's had a wrench stuck to a drawer in his tool box for years because he got some of that on it.

3M #8609 is windshield install urethane. Stuff might work for what you want. If you have unused keep it in the freezer for next project.

OK, further to the question of rubber to steel and this may be a heap dumb question, but how did Allis stick the rubber to cylinder bars in the All-Crop combines?
