Just got the 330 gallon tank filled and found out that I had only contracted for 400 gallons, so...I got 87 gals. left on the contract to finish it out but, the rest of it was $2.709 per gal. Nice surprise and $443 from the hip... and only 73% full, deal was for 80%.
Questioned them about buying my own tank prices and over contracting an extra 100 gals. They explained that there would be a penalty of 10 cents a gal. for the overage so, here are their contract prices:
My contract for 400 gals--$1.899 (they at first wanted me to go for 200 gals....bummer!)
The rest of the tank fill cost me $2.709 as my contract was over
If I own tank...$1.899
Prebuy--Pay for it in all the fall...$1.779.
So, hows the prices in your area? Did I get stepped on a bit? It would cost around $1676 to get the cheapest price from Buckeye Propane. And they tell me that it would take me around 3000 gals. to break even on that. I also told her that I could shop around for the cheapest price if I own the tank. Whats your advise? They appear to be getting like the gas stations with yo-yo prices. $660 for a refurbished tank and thats exactly what they put in for me...and the gage didn't work and I paid them $625 to set the tank
