How can I operate a single acting cylinder on a double acting valve? Do I need to get e single acting valve? Seems if I hook it to what I have, it will only work one way because when I would move the valve the other way it would come up against the relief valve because the cylinder has no provision to hook to the other side of the valve. Have not tried any of this, just trying to grt it right before trying.

hook your lift hose to the tractor when you lower the eguipment the wieght will push the oil through the valve to tank and it will go down.other side of cylinder should have a vent hole in plug

Plumb the outlet of the valve that will pressure up when pushed to full lowering to the tank, or the hydraulic oil return line to tank.

Should still be able to use a single action cylinder. Have you hooked it up to see if it works? Most tractors have a restrictor valve setting you can set inorder to use for remotes plugged into single acting cylinders. My bi-fold wheel rake is single acting.

No, not hooked up yet. M Farmall w/live hyd and 2 way valve mounted on the light bracket. Want to put my loader on it.

I did that on a forklift adapted to the rear of a treactor fitted with dual acting hydraulic valves. Put a fitting in an extra port in the oil tank and plumbed a tip and hose to the unused SCV port. Allows the forklift cylinder to work without blowing the relief valve every time I lower the mast
