OT Any oil burner guru's out here?

Riello 40 F3 slow drip btw motor and pump when running.
It is not the pump cover or any of obvious or easy lines or connectors on the pump.
To me it looks like it is leaking at the pump shaft but cannot see it while its together.

Pretty hard to see your leak over the 'net but oil burner pump shaft seal leaks are NOT uncommon.

A faulty, drooling nozzle or a leak at the nozzle adapter can run back though the burner's air tube and leak out the bottom of the fan housing/motor joint as well, aided by the positive air pressure in that area while the burner is running.

Things like a drooling nozzle or leak at nozzle adapter are the kind of things I need to learn about.
I would think a drooling nozzle would burn lousy and eat up oil?

Thing runs good and exhaust looks and smells clean outside the house. Not chewing thru alot of oil either.

My naive opinion is it is a leaking pump shaft.
For now I have left the cover off and placed a tin can under it. So far 1/2 day and nothing in the can. As it does both the heat and the hot water it can wait till spring.

Just bought a new Bedarus furnace oil fired with a Riello burner. Quietest burner I have ever seen. Hope you solve your leek problem. That's a great burner. I'll keep and eye on mine.

I agree it is a great burner. What I believe is a issue is as its a modern, high PSI(175) burner it has to be service be a "high tech" tech. Can't get away with the old school oil burner man.
Mine started to leak after it was serviced by the local oil co. tech.
Leaks even more after its second service by a "highly recommended" tech.
Great! Another piece of equipment I am going to have to buy special gauges to service myself.

There are a lot of oil burner experts on the "heating help.com" website. Go to the "wall" and ask them anything about boilers, furnaces, etc. Good luck
