bt sweet corn spray

has anyone had any experience at using bt insecticide spray on sweet corn for control of european corn borer and corn earworm?
 
I have used it for several years. It is a natural bacteria and is somewhat effective. There is a new one though that I have used for a couple of years. I believe it is more effective. It is also a natural bacteria and is called Spenocid. I believe that is the correct spelling.
 
how do you apply it. I have 2-3 acres and will probably need to broadcast spray it. I was looking into 2 products Dipel and Xanteri.
 
I spray it. I think what I use is under the Greenlight label. Not sure what they call it. The bacteria was discovered by a scientist a few years ago on vacation in Ireland. He found it in an abandoned rum distillery. It is also a good fire ants. It is packaged under several brands for ant control. I use Extinguish brand for the ants.

thanks for the info. how do you time your applications? do use moth traps or just spray at a certain time. do you completely wet all the stalks?

I just try to hit the silks for ear worms. You may want to cover the stalks for boers. The instructions say max applications 6. Min days between application 6. I just spray a couple of times about a week apart when the corn begins to tassel.
 
do you have a lot of sweet corn or a garden. seems like it would be to labor intensive for me to spray silks on 2 acres.
