A Very Gentle Horse!

How is this for a horse with a Great Personality?

Nice to have a horse like that. I had a 30 plus year-old Arabian stallion that was extremely gentle. He was an old-fashioned small Arabian and an ex-circus horse. My kids had a lot of fun with him. But, he could not handle New York winters and go so he couldn't eat dry hay. We finally let somebody adopt him, and for all I know -he's still alive somewhere at age 40.

Until we had him, I had no idea a stallion could be so gentle. My wife had a gelded Percheron draft-horse - and he was just the opposite. Maybe because he was French?

The only horse I ever really liked was "Champ"- one of those "if you ever decide to sell him" deals. Neighbor had him, and went into Holstein heifers so improved all the pastures to the point where there was no place they could put him that he wouldn't founder. So he called and said they had called the horsemeat packer, who said he was worth about $300, so I bought him for that. Strawberry roan Tennessee Walker gelding, I rode him for 17 years. Very well gaited, and could "walk" with the best of them. Including a fancy registered black stallion that a friend had, to his considerable consternation.

He actually liked kids- we used to have him loose in the yard in the summer, kids could climb up on him, ride him around with no saddle or bridle (steered by pulling mane one way or the other- stopped when you said whoa).

It was a sad day when he went to the knacker.

That's the longest horse I've ever seen. Could get 6 kids on there. It's a photoshop right?

Nice pic. In horsepeople language, those horses are called "baby sitters".

IF the time comes for the horse to find a new home, those horses are rarely advertised for sale. The horse will have the 'baby sitter' reputation and the owners always have a couple of people who want horses like that.

If I wasn't at the max for horses, I'd have one. I'd like to have a baby sitter that my friends/family that are not good riders could enjoy.

I have a lot of wonder stories because of this horse and let me tell you, even though he appears to be a "SLEEPER" I NEVER returned to the stables with MUD ON MY FACE!
