What type Antifreeze do I have

I have several Massey tractors which I have brought back from Canada and the US. Each have green antifreeze (looks a little fluorestent)in them. With the cold weather on its way I want to check the strength in my 97 and if necessary top it up. What type of antiefreeze do I have, the stuff we have over here is mostly blue or red.
Thanks
Bill

Green coolant usually means ethylene glycol, but is not a 100% indicator.
My local supplier of ethylene glycol coolant with the diesel engine additive package now (about the last year) makes their coolant purple ??

There seems to be a considerable number of different formulations of AF in use now around the world; Google mixing AF and several sites should come up on what will mix safely (apparently very little) and what won't (apparently most), and I doubt color is a safe guide now.
You might also check the archives here; seems like there was a long discussion on this point here 3-4 months ago?? Be careful, and good luck.

That's why I have old equipment.

It all takes the same old green stuff and I ain't a gotta worry 'bout it. :>)

Years ago when I had an old IH 350 and Antifreeze went way up in price I filled it up with kerosene. I used it that way for about five years with no trouble and it had it in there when I sold it. It keeps the inside of the radiator just as clean as new and worked fine. People did this during the depression years.

I would bet its the common ethylene glycol mixture that you are seeing. Common to the Prestone brand name in the yellow jug. You would need a testing device for ethylene glycol which I have seen as low as 3 bucks in parts stores. Very common in the states at 12 bucks a gallon.
