Looking for info on if there are any secret recalls on our 2006 grand caravan steering gear oil leaks and intake manifold coolant leaks. They had one on the rear AC evap.

I worked for dodge for 10 years. I could not find any service bulletins on the steering gear or intake manifold. I have seen steering gears leak but not common for coolant leaks. the water pumps were more common for leaking.

Wonder if there are any transmission recalls or problems? According to Websters New Abridged Dictionary: To dodge is to miss or avoid....

I spent a lot of years in a Chrysler dealership. By law there are no hidden recalls. Recalls are always public knowledge. Dealerships do sometimes however have some latitude to take care of what is called customer satisfaction issues. If you think you have such a case, you can ask to talk to a zone representative. I have seen things that were well out of warranty covered. I left Chrysler before the whole bankrupt thing, so things may be different now.

I was a Dodge mechanic for 10 years also. I have never seen hidden recalls. Recalls are all public knowledge. Give them your VIN and they will tell you if any recalls exist for your vehicle or drive to the nearest Chrysler dealer and they will check it for you.

Don't you know that's how all Dodges run?

Replacing the transmission at 80K is standard maintenance too.

Recalls are not kept secret.. If there was a recall that involves your vehicle, you would most likely have received a letter from Chrysler.. Best to call your local dealer with any questions..

Yes, there are no secret recalls--but that's misleading 'cuz what you're looking for are TSB"s (technical service bulletins), as billks said, from the factory to dealers telling them of problems cropping up and the fixes, if known. The industry is also adept at changing nomenclature, so there may be other names used, but since they're not RECALLS they're often not public...
You need to go to Dodge forums, review their repair question archives and post your questions there for maximum exposure to other Dodge owners.
You could also check with CAS (Center for Auto Safety), a non-profit that deals with, among other things, recurring repair problems the factory is reluctant to admit/deal with.

Ask to see the zone rep. If you bought new, have service records, especially from the dealer, have been a long time mopar custormer, they might help. The rep knows what the weak parts are, they can do stuff the dealer can't.
