My son diggin with his "new backhoe" The yellow thing in front of the truck that looks like a skidsteer is the brakes for the truck.

The steer shed behind the backhoe is now kindling wood in the trees outback after the big windstorm a couple of weeks ago.

A picture to show it actually works. The truck is a Chevy from the early 50's Notice how short the bucket arm is compared to the other boom. It doesn't work well for digging deep. probrobly made to be a ditch digger. Stabilizer legs are long gone hence the skidsteer.

It's a Hopto Digger,

Nice adaptation.

Years ago we used a machine called a Hopto (pronounced Hop-Toe). Probably from the same company. It had a long straight telescoping arm that would rotate, kinda like holding your arm out straight in front of you and twisting your wrist. A very good machine for digging out concrete patches. I remember the operator could script write his name in the dirt with it.
