Battery charger help

My mom has on of those cheapo battery charger/air compressor/ work light deals, and it says to charge it for 12 hours after every use. There"s a cord to plug into a car cig. lighter, but I don"t think it"s a good idea to do it that way. I"ve got a couple of 110v converters, a 9v and a 15v that will fit the plug. Will the 15v converter be too much? She can"t find the manual, and this thing doesn"t even have a brand name on it. It"s Yellow and she got it at Rural King. It"s the only thing she has to fill up tires, and we need to put some air in the golf cart tires. Thanks.

Attach it to the converters, It should be fine.
(but it isn"t mine) A tire pump is about $20, so be sure not to exceed that price point in messing around. The pump should work as soon as it is plugged in! Jim

Stop by any parts store or truck stop, get a "wire in" lighter receptacle, and hard wire it into your harness under the hood. use this to plug unit into. works like a champ.

You'll probably burn out your converter. Usually, those portable battery packs charge very slow with the suppled AC charger, and very fast when you use DC to charge them. Mine takes 12 hours to charge on AC, and 2 hours when plugged into a 12 volt power outlet.

Check the rating on your converter. If it's rated only in milliamps, it's a waste of time. If it's rated 13-14 volts and one amp or more, it should be OK. Standard AC converters are rated 1 amp for the cheaper units, and 2 amps for the better. You cigarette lighter/power outlet will charge it at 10 amps.
