Field Fires ravaging Indiana!!!

Local news says they beleive it was started when someone shut off farm equipment in a feild. Its jumped several roads, & an entire town has been evacuated so far. Most of central Indiana has only had about an inch of rain since before August 1st.

If the machine leaks any kind of fluid its best to move it gravel, or concrete under those conditions!

It's so dry here that a disc won't hardly even scratch the ground. We tried plowing last weekend and the plow just slid along on top of the ground. Less than 1" of rain in the last 75 days. And it was dry before THAT rain.

We have found on some plows with point wear we have to heat the old blacksmith share a little & bend the tip so they have about 1/4 in of suck. The later plows with the std throwaways will hardly penetrate. Put on the deep suck points helps. This ground is really hard. Good time to check tail wheel setting.Plus side is it really shines up the plow.

The plow I tried using has all new wear parts (well, less than 10 acres total use) In normal conditions, it'll suck right on down in the ground. This plow shines like a mirror. The ground is just that hard right now.

Wish I could send some of our water your way, Here in central Minn. its been raining since Memorial day!!!It's been mud and bugs all summer, had 3 inchs of rain today again.

Like I've said before, it's always a good idea to keep a 2 1/2 gallon water extinguisher or two on your equipment. Especially in a dry field. Put in some dish soap and it will work on smaller fuel and oil fires too.
