OT Nice Evening To Sit In The Deerstand

I took advantage of the nice weather on opening weekend of bow season in Mn. I sat in the stand for about 15 minutes and saw my first deer for the evening hunt and two and a half hours later I had this 8 point buck in my sights at 40 yards and took the shot! Did anyone else go out opening weekend?

Nice looking buck. Here in Missouri opening day for bow season was the 15th of Sept but it is way to hot to go hunting here yet at least in my book. I prefer not to go deer hunting till after the first frost

Congrats!

Bows sure have changed since I shot archery. I've still got my bow and some arrows. Maybe one of these days I'll pick it back up.

Nice buck, but now, see what you went and did? Season's over for you, now you got nothing to look forward to.

Unless you're state is one that allows multiple deer (I think Old said he got 4 or 5 last year in Missouri). Here in good ole Washington state, its "one and done".

Yep got 5 last year with gun. I did not do any bow hunting last year because it was to warm. Here in Missouri your allowed 1 buck by bow and 1 by gun and all the rest have to be antler-less so I got one buck and 4 does or button bucks

They used to have one day legal for does, but don't even have that anymore. And I don't know why- there are more deer around than ever- we have some land about 13 miles up a fairly narrow river valley, and going up there of an evening you generally see a dozen or more- almost always does.

They've had one deer hunter in this county was killed when he fell from the deerstand and another killed in the next county about 30 miles away. Hal

Don't really know. My son is 6'2" and a solid 195lb.....I suppose the deer is at least 200...

I have hunted Houston Cty in your states SE corner and there are some whoppers down in that area---
