Gentlemen,
I posted about a few weeks ago about the heavy disking and spraying project I was bidding on. Someone got it for $95,000 less! The rest of us were all in the same ball park, sorry about their luck . Now we have an opportunity to do some R.O.W. mowing for a gas pipeline company we already work for. We"ve already sprayed these ROW"s several times, so we know the terrain. We need about 5 more tractors than we already own to complete the project on time. The bosses are bent on buying JD"s. I rarely ever see them being used down here as R.O.W tractors, always crop. Anything the utility contractors use seem to be MFWD Massey"s, Fords (7610"s are very popular, we have a couple we spray with), some of the New Holland TC110 and lots of Kubotas. All have some heavy steelwork built on them, cages and skidplates. Boss reasons that parts are more available from JD. I just think we would be better of buying some clean used Fords or New Hollands for 1/4 of the price, because they will probably get beat to death anyway! These tractors will be pulling 10" and 6" heavy-duty rotary cutters. Any thoughts?
