Stuck engine on John Deere 530

I was wondering if anyone had any good advice on getting engine unstuck other than taking block off. I started soaking yesterday with Marvel mystery oil. I put pry bar on teeth of Flywheel but not really liking that idea much as don't want to have to replace the ring gear. I was kinda hoping Paul Bunyon might happen on with his big channel locks! Figure I might as well by a lottery ticket as plan on that.
 
Fill the cylinders with ATF and let it soak. If it has been stuck long you may need to tear the engine down. Hal
 
If it is not stuck to bad you can take the flywheel cover off, run a short piece of chain through the big holes in the flywheel then get a crowbar or long piece of pipe and pry againgst the flywheel, MAKE SURE the valves are free first.
 
That chain idea is good. I tried using bar stock and that didn't work very good. I think it is worst possible position. I supect it is in top dead center position or close. Exhaust valve is open on right side piston. I suspect it to be culprit
 
Loosen the connecting rods so there is a little movement in the crank. Then use your chain and bar. Should be able to jar it loose. Worked many times for me.
 
I would forget that MMO and fill the cylinders with ATF and if I remember right the 530 still has the lay down cylinders and if that is so jack the front of the tractor up and block it up about 18 inch off the ground. That is what I did with my 1935 JD-B. If the stater works set a 12 volt battery in and use short fast taps on the starter button. The starter was made to spin the engine in the first place. Ya if the valves are stuck you may bend the push rods but that would happen not matter how you turned it over. If you do not like the starter idea do what I did with my B. I took a piece of 1/4 inch X2 inch angle iron about 12 foot long and welded to piece of pipe that fit into the flywheel holes and used that to lever the engine over
 
I would remove the spark plugs and look into the engine to see what the walls look like if they are rusted bad mite as well tear it down as the engine is in bad shape and no use messing around. If it looks bad that will be the final fix anyway as all the soaking in the world wont make new walls. With the head off you can get a good valve job also.
 
Wrap a chain around the flywheel and hook to a come-a-long and pull tight and leave. Fill cyl. with atf. Temp of day and night with the pull will pop it free. Just check tension every day.

Have you loosened off the valve lash to ensure there isn't a stuck valve waiting to bend the valve train?
It's a two cylinder waterloo so it a quick easy job to pull the cylinder head. After you do you will be pleased to know you didn't bust anything yanking on an engine stuck full of rust. It will only cost you a head gasket to find out most of the engine's condition.
Time to accept it will take some time and money now to save a lot of time and money later.
 
I soaked for a day with the marvel mystery oil. Then tonight I tried the deal with the chain thru hole in flywheel with long crowbar. Had a friend over and he ran the crowbar. I took off valve cover and checked to make sure valves were working. Got it to move about 2 inches and just kept working back and forth easy. Got little more each time. Took about a half hour and got it to turn over. Turned over couple times and got easier each time. Can turn over with hands on flywheel now. Put some more oil in to soak overnight and gonna try to start tomorrow. Tractor only set out for about six months and wasn't much rust anywhere else. Thanks for all the advice. Worked great.
