Worked two hours on a transfer switch. Because it would not transfer. Looked over at the motor control switch,it was off. Turned it on switch worked fine.

You mean like the time many years ago when my '71 Chevy half ton/350 starting backfiring like crazy? I and a couple others came to the conclusion it had jumped time. So, in went new timing gear and chain. Fired it up, ran the same. Then put in a cap/rotor and it ran fine.....Obviously I wasn't nearly as much of a diagnostic mechanic as I thought!

I came home from work one afternoon and looked up at the clock above the fridg as was my everyday custom. It was not working. took it down and fiddled with it, plugged it back in, no work. Took it down and fiddled with it some more, still no work. got mad and opened the door and threw it across the yard. ( I had had a really rough day) Wife came in from picking up the kids from school and asked me" Is the power back on yet?"

my 89 ford would'nt run right so I added a gery can of gas (gauge don't work)ran nice the next time I used it.(no licence on truck just used for haulling wood and takeing children to the bus down wet driveway(long and hilly).couple days later doesn't want to run again.NOway it was out of gas in 10 miles or less. Loaded on semi to haul to scrap had to punch hole through gas tank wouldn't you know no gas in tank. had already flatened on semi so no looking back.

Was sent out at work to fix some outside lights for a customer. put a new bulb in, still didn't work. Spent the nest /2 hour trying to fix it only to find out the new bulb was bad too. Shoulda used a tester. And of course there's worse too but we don't have time today

Owner's Grasshopper (Zero turn) wouldnt cut level.
Brought it in the shop and flipped up the deck.
Her soninlaw had put one of the blades on upside down.
I have to work with this guy and he gets paid more because he's related???

When I worked as an Air Traffic Controller, we received a strange call from an obvious "good old boy" Airman one night. "I am on the flightline at spot 22 and my truck won't start" he says. Since the control tower number is unlisted, the next obvious question was "What do you want us to do about it?" He sounded a little annoyed when he responded, "It says TOWer right here in my book, I need a TOW"!

Did an inframe on one of our dump trucks and forgot to tighten the drain plug. made it about 5 miles. I hate it when there is no one else to blame.

We had that F-20 running at last years RPRU in Wisconsin the night before it was suppose to start with a popbottle as a gas tank. It ran fine with nobody on the grounds but us guys that were doing the rebuild.

Next day after finishing the assembly it would not start. We cranked and cranked with about 200 people waiting to hear it run. After about 20 minutes I yelled out, Did anyone turn on the fuel at the tank?

Fired on the second crank.

Talk about dumb.

Last night I finished round baling an 8 acre patch, the last of first cutting. We are having trouble with the twine knife so every bale I have to get off and cut the twine. Kicked out the last bale and forgot to cut twine, drove to the machine shed noticed twine hanging out the back of the baler. Followed it right to the last bale about a mile away. DUM DUM.

I am full of dumb moves. Changed the battery on my wifes car one night. Car wouldn't start. Forgot to remove the plastic cap from the negative post.

I played a trick on my last boss. He had a Woods mower (just like a grasshopper) with which we took turns mowing lawn. After I was done one time, I thought it'd be funny to engage the PTO after I parked it. With the PTO engaged, the engine won't start. A couple days later I showed up for work and he had that mower torn apart! He went to mow the lawn and couldn't get it to start, so he started digging. I was a bit sheepish as I walked up and asked him if he checked if the PTO was disengaged...
