Seed plates

Looking at Lincoln Ag seed plates and wonder what the cell size numbers mean, cell size 40-13-20 and the plate number is C8-16 cell. I understand the C8-16 part but not the 40-13-20.
Also is the flats vs. rounds depend on the seed or what??
One other question, in my IH 244 planter the steel plate says 1892, A, MED,IUM. how do I find out what that crosses over to the C?-16 number??
Thanks
Ryan

L-W-H... in 64ths...

40-13-20 = 40/64 Long x 13/64 wide x 20/64 thick.

Ryan , I have operators manual for IH 185 planter unit. Manual has plate numbers with dimensions of cells and scale drawings of cell sizes for dozens of plates. Your 1892 A is listed as 8 cell plate (Hill Drop Type) Corn ( 2 and 3 kernels per hill ). Send me an e-mail so I'll get your address and I will scan page of manual and send to you,if you like.

Also, Lincoln plates does not have a hill drop plate. Hill drop planting went out of style a LONG time ago.

And, the flat or round is the shape of the kernel of corn. Shape of kernel depends on where on a well filled out ear it grew. Flats from the center of the ear , rounds from toward the tip or butt end of the ear.
