protecting paint question

I just finished painting an A Farmall with oil base paint.

Is there anything I can put over the paint to protect it from stains caused by gas spills etc.

thanks for your ideas.

You don't want to put anything over it til it has a few weeks to cure. You might to want to use a good automotive wax on it later on. That's what i try to do once a year or so.

I would think that if you bought the paint at a decent dealer that they would tell you what to protect it with. Myself, I like plain ole turtle wax or johnsons pate wax but I wouldn't know anything about new paint.

You'll be painting it again next year!! Oil base paint has no UV protection and red is the worst color for fading. You should have used an acrilic or synthetic enamal with hardner for a lasting finish. Check out the Restoration and Painting Forum on this site.
