Every time I try the search on here it does not even come close to what I am looking for. Example: I was talking to a man about a JD 2040 problem. I tried the search feature. JD 2040, John Deere 2040 and 2040. None of them would find any post within the last year. I paged back about four or five pages and there it was. "JD 2040 with hydraulic problems" was the title. So what am I doing wrong??? I see people get bitched out about not checking the archives. Well I haven't been able to find anything with out just paging back until I find it.

Did you try it in modern view? You can also just do your user name and find all your posts.

I think there"s a time lag before a post goes into the archives...I think if it"s still shown in the forum pages it won"t show up in archives...
Now, if you want real adventure, browse the archives "alphabetically"--or try to, that is--just be sure not to stop with the first alphabetical group---"cuz there"ll be more--and then there"s the "Re"s, the "Re Re""s etc...
Actually, the archives are a priceless goldmine of information, and if you need to dig out some of the overburden, well, that"s life...
