Tragic traffic accident. Not tractorbut trailer related

That same thing happened last year a mile North of me. The pin came out of the hitch on the reciever on the pick up. Tongue of the trailer went through the windshield and killed the SUV driver. Pick up driver was charged, now big law suit.
 
Know a contractor who had just bought a used trailer. It did not have safety chains, and he must not have thought much of it. As he was taking it home (first time hooked up to it) it breaks loose, hits a pedestrian and kills him! Can't be too careful! Greg
 
Sad deal here today aswell. Guy turns his truck over in the median, gets thrown from truck, and hit by a car. Don't know if he was dead when the car hit him or not, have not been able to find out from any local sites.

I don't even like the cheapo S hooks on safety chains and replace them with the Screw link thingys.
 
GOD works hard, and in misterious ways. Just
think how hard it must be, to coordinate getting
all those who are ordaned to die on a certain
day, all into the same airplane !
 
One of my major pet peeves are those who take no real caution when pulling atrailer. They don't hook up safety chains, they don't worry if the lights are working or not, etc. - as long as the old truck will pull the trailer they think they are good to go :evil:

If it is found that the guy pulling the trailer that came loose did not have it properly attached, I hope they charge him with involuntary manslaughter or something.

When I do DOT safety inspections, any trailer that has "Screw link thingys" on the safety chains is an automatic failure. The reason is that they are not on the list of approved hooks or chain. The unmarked S hooks and unmarked chain are all assumed to be proof coil chain which has the lowest tensile strength of all types of chain.
