25 years today; Allis sold to Deutz!!!

Not just a sad day for the farm industry but American manufacturing in general.
I don't live far from where they built the Minneapolis Molines. Sometimes when I drive by that area and see the Strip Mall with the Target and 2 different Supermarkets, etc. I wonder if the employees there are making as much as all those factory workers used to. I don't think they do.

I think you're right about Case-IH. This is a pretty good IH area (Case "not so much"), and I remember farmers being outraged that Case was going to take over IH- and that had to be when I was working for PCA, which I left in August '84.

But the nnalert among us should be overjoyed that all that "overpaid" union labor has been replaced by folks making minimum wage...maybe folks who make less spend less, but at least they don't have to shell out the big bucks to folks who work at the malls and fast-food joints.

I'm sure that's probably good for EVERYONE'S standard of living.

That is flatty out one of the stupidest comments you have ever uttered. You seem to forget it was the all powerful union that put IH under. And you have the cahuunas to whine about people who appose big unions? Nice try at being logical....

MY comment was, that the big union SALARIES are now gone. I never said I supported the unions breaking ANY company. You must be an idiot to infer that. But never forget that it was the "overpaid" union members and their spending that raised the standard of living for lots of other employees of small business who WEREN'T union members...and when the union members' jobs went away, so did a lot of jobs with Mom-and-Pop businesses who were no longer taking in dollars from those "overpaid" union members.

"A rising tide raises all boats," according to an old saying; and a falling standard of living has ripple effects, too. Maybe you've not been affected yet, but you WILL be when the bottom falls out of external_link's economy.
