So the way I see it the next time I see dogs in my lot you know whats gona happen the 45/70 or the 22/250

I know I am not Old or Larry, but in Wisconsin if dogs are hurting your animals you are legally entitled by law to shoot them. I prefer the three s method. SHOOT, SHOVEL AND SHUT UP! Goo
d luck

Well not sure about where you are but in Missouri if you so much as see a dog chasing your cow/goat/horses etc it is legal to open up on them and take them out and if you can prove who owned the dogs and they hurt hurt or kill live stock the own can be made to pay but that pay things also can be a court problem and that takes a lawyer and $$

We bought about half of an old fellow's farm in 1976- he was keeping the home place, selling us bare land next door. He had two old dogs, and told us that he didn't think he'd be able to convince them that they didn't own that place anymore, but if they gave my cattle any trouble, "Just shoot 'em! If you don't have a gun, come borrow mine! They've never bothered my cattle, but you just never know!"

They hung around our cattle all the time, and they all became great friends. They saved my calves from coyotes more than once, I believe.

The fellow had been a rancher in Wyoming, and was just stating the law of the range.

Lots of the yuppies on this board say you need to go talk to the neighbor or to the sheriff; NOT!!! They'll just know who to be upset with when you untimately do what you've got to do. Been there more times than I can count. Just be aware that a man will often be more upset over his dawg than over his wife.

They were good dogs; they let you live on their property.....lol. They considered it their territory and protected the cattle as though belonging to original owner. I had a similar situation once. I bought the property and the dog came with it. He let me live on his property. The original owner moved into a residential neighborhood and did not have a fence. The dog considered the entire neighborhood his territory. He was always mooching treats off the neighbors.

A few years ago I had a neighbor come by and tell me my Collie was in his sheep,I told him I really doubted it because she was to old to walk that far, much less run, He was sure it was her, I said next time shoot her, A dog that hurts cattle or sheep is worthless, The end result was he shot his own dog,it looked like mine.
