o/t ford escort

Put the one for the door in your pocket and lock it up with the key in the ignition.

If someone wants to steal it they don't care if the key is in it or not.

have to dissagree with that. a pro car theif probably your right, but i dont think they'll be targeting a 93 escort, but some kid looking for a joy ride it would probably be more tempting. that said i leave my key in my farm truck ignition 24/7 and dont lock door unless im in town. quess it depends on where he lives and crime rate.
as far as getting that key out could try carefully with some plyers to pull it out probably twisted a bit in there.

good luck

Did you replace the ignition tumbler or the ignition switch? If you replaced the tumbler did the end have a little gear on it when pulled out? If so you need to time the rack. To time the rack I just put the gear on the rack so it lines up with the tumbler when install. You also may want to make sure the new one is the same as the old one.

I bought a new Ignition switch with the key. When I got it all apart I noticed that I could slide the cylinder out by removing the snap ring in the back. Took the snap ring off the new one lined it up with the the locking piece on the main housing it when't right in, yes I put the spring on the back started the car turned it off every thing shut off dash lights the ding when you leave the key in tryed to pull the key out no go took it a part looked ok put it back together same thing maybe I need too replace the whole thing but it was 90.00 and this was 28.00 just thought I would ask thanks any way.
