Have tractor tire prices dropped at all?

It has been a while since I priced any tires. I didn't like the prices I was seeing about 18 months ago. Has anyone priced tires recently?

September 30 of 2009 my supplier told me that all his tires except big truck tires were going up 30%. Later that stabilzed a little with China tires up 30% and others up about 25%. 16.9x38 were 500 dollars each in August and 650 each in October. Prices went up another 8 percent December 1.

I wouldn't say they dropped but prices are getting softer. Some lines are down a few points. It would take a price war of the manufacturers to bring prices down much and since there are only really 2 big players left I doubt that will happen. But we won't see them go up any either. The Chinese tariff didn't affect the farm tires any.

Chris, I don't know where in Missouri you are located but I bought two new rear tires for my Super C 11.2-36" Firstone 151 Field and Road made in the USA. I got them from a place in Houston, MO and the place sold them to me for $25 over their cost for the pair. I recall the price for the two tires were $315 (cost) each plus $25 his profit for a total of $655. Of course there is no sales tax on farm tires in our state. These same tires were being priced to me by other dealers at Firestone's retail price of $395 each. For some reason (probably lack of demand for the 36" tires they actually cost more then the Farmall H and M standard sizes in 38". My email is open if you want additional information, Hal.

I'm over in Wright Co. near Mansfield.

Thanks for the heads up. What was the name of the place in Houston you went to? I've got a father&son business in town here that I usually get my tire work done at, but I can always shop around.
