What is the best glue to use to bond rubber to a steel wheel? Any help would be appreciated..thank you

Rubber to a steel wheel? There's 3M weatherstrip adhesive for sticking rubber weatherstrip and trim to steel, but I don't know how it would hold up on a wheel.

I have done this on several tractors and went to a auto glass shop and bought the adhesive they use to install windshields. So far it has held up real well for me. The adhesive comes in caulking gun tubes. I put it on with a caulk gun and then spread it out with a small notched trowel. If you are putting it on bare metal they also sell a special primer that helps it bond to the metal. I then clamp it down real good and then use elevator bolts with very flat wide heads to bolt it down when it is dry. I got the rubber, that I put on the wheels from our local concrete ready mix company. It is used conveyer belt material. They just gave me some of the conveyer belt and I cut it to the right width with a sheet rock knife. Looks and works great. Let me know if you want any more info. email [email protected]

I don't know how you'd find out what was used to glue the rubber strips to the cylinder bars on the old Allis Chalmers combines, but if you could get some it would definately work !
