'94 sierra 1500 350

My serpentine belt jumped off last night when I started to plow. Wasn't hard to tell, no power steering. I'm assuming the thing hanging next to the ac pump is the tensioner. Am I wright?

You're right! Chances are the bearing went out in the tensioner,happens to all of them,Napa has complete ones for about $30.00? Easy fix!Check your belt,it probably needs replaced.

Thanks Mike. I posted the message then went and fixed it, couldn't wait for a response. It was parked across my drive. My altenator is the problem. Turn on the headlights and the jackpot light on top and it starts squealin. Got another one in the barn but can't fit the truck in the heated shop cause I got to keep my wife and daughters jet skis warm. Should have built a bigger shop. 30X48, should have gone 60.

While you are at it, replace the belt, about a 5 minute finagle. They get glazed & stretch a bit.
SWMBO had squeeling belt when backing out of garage. Extra load from A/C, steering(had to turn right away) & recharging batt from starting would make it slip, quiet down by time she got to end of driveway. new belt cured the problem, has been couple years now.
