this is a shot of the bottom of the bank barn. there is a built in closet for harness and that is the inside of one of the old original stalls. I dont know how old the barn is .

Built into the side of hill basically. "Basement" of the barn open to the outside on one side, ramp up to the "main floor" on the other. Easy for feeding livestock in the bottom, storing their food up top. Plus store other stuff on the main level. Lots of them in the midwest.
 
A bonk barn is built into a hillside. You can drive in on more then level I have seen three levels, perhaps there could be more.
 
Here we call them basement barns. Can drive into the haymow to unload hay, Cows have the lower level, flush with the ground on the side opposite of the haymow driveway.
