looking at an allis d 10,,sitting for awhile, owner said he would get running before i bought it. it is a gas engine. is this considered to be a decent tractor.. any weak points about it. as well as any strong ones.. thanks..

Those are a high priced tractor, even higher than the small Deeres. When the Zenia tornado went thru and dammaged the raffel tractor I had heard it was a 10,000$ tractor.

I have one and trying to get another if I can convince the current owner. Cute little tractor - rated at 1 bottom plow. Weak points - light in the front end other than that good for truck farming and general duties.

Strong points - small and nimble.

Depends on the series, as to value Series III is the valuable one. Oval muffler, and live pto/hyd pump in the back, are the indicators of series III. Most valuable metal on the tractor are the fenders, and the pto guard and front bolt on bumper/weight. Beware of an oval muffler with a hood hole that has been hacked to an oval, its an series III wannabe! Weakest point on the tractor is the 3 point hitch, if it has one. 3ph mounts with 3bolts, all point up, into the rear, tend to rattle loose with use, then break off or strip out the hole. Snap coupler is a better set up, for this tractor IMHO.

thanks for the replies and the advice...i am going back this week and talk some more with the owner, it comes with a box blade and a older bushhog. price seems ok.. he says only needs a tuneup and a battery, we will see.. have a good day

I think the weakest point is 2nd and 3rd gear popping out problems. Also some early models didn't have live pto or hydraulics....and were connected. For instance, if you used a post hole auger on it and it got stuck in the hole you had to remove the pto shaft in order to lift it out because the hydraulics didn't work unless the pto was running.
