Does anyone know of a simple cell phone like the Jitterbug? It appears Jitterbug can't be used on AT&T or Verizon cell networks. I have an iPhone, but it wants to do a whole lot more than I need.

If I even HAD a cell phone,it would have to have the big numbers. Maybe that big new Apple I-Pad if you can use that for a phone. Even with that,I'd better wait for the new 14 inch wide screen MAXI-I-pad.

Suggest you check internet about Jitterbug...lot of very unhappy users. I was headed that way too, I don't need tunes or camera or weather alerts..

I'm still under 30, but I've seen the ads for Jitterbug phones. It seems like a big ripoff and another company taking advantage of senior citizens.

I agree.
We have TracFone and buy 800 minutes every 12 months. Cost is 99.00 and we always have minutes left over; that breaks bown to just over 8.00 per month.

If you want AT&T, they have a simple phone called the Pantech Breeze. My wife and I both have it and really like it. I can read everything on the screen without my glasses.

It does have a camera and Bluetooth but still a simple and easy to use phone. Great for the older people.

You might check out Verizon prepaid basic.
I only need a cell phone for on road and emergency service, so I burn up very few minutes per year, usually about 30 min.

I have had Tracfone prepaid for years, but service in my area was always poor and as of the last 6 months is terrible.
Tracfone sold me a years service and 400 minutes for $100 per year. I never use that much and now have 1700 minutes built up over the years.
It was very frustrating to have a Verizon tower within line of sight, but tracfone could not use it.
I did an online search for something similar in cost that could use the local tower. I found Verizon prepaid for $100 per year. That buys you 1 year of service and 400 minutes at $.25 per minute, so cost is similar to tracfone.
I bought verizon last week, it cost me $60 for a good camera phone and $100 for a 1 year card.
Tracfone would not allow me to use a camera phone, as they claim not to have any area towers that will support it.

I now have a great strong signal off the Verizon tower for $100 per year. The down side is that I had to buy my phone from Verizon, while tracfone gave me the phone as part of the $100 yearly package.
I don't really mind the one time extra $60 for the phone, as I now have great service / signal and can use a camera phone which I really wanted.

The $.25 per minute with no daily access charge works for me. They have several other plans that have from $1-4 daily access charge ONLY on the days you use it and unlimited talk time.
Check out the link, I love it. :)
Verizon prepaid

I have a T-Mobile prepaid for 1000 minutes per year for $100 with carryover. Get a good signal around the Phoenix, Arizona area. My phone is a Samsung T-219 and is no longer listed on T-Mobile web site. Did find a couple for sale on Ebay.

Did a bit of research and found that the various networks lock the cell phones to their signals, but the cell phones can be unlocked and switched to another network.

I do like a simple phone but more importantly, I want a strong signal.

I'm with you rrlund even with glasses I sometimes can't see the screen worth a crap. Our At&T contract is up this month and I just want a phone ahh let me correct that my kids say I need a phone so they can reach me because they worry about me, why?? I don't know. I liked the days when I was out of touch with everyone., it's handy I admit but both my boys text me all the time and they're grown men one drives a semi and I say if you're on the phone anyway just call and talk to me. I told the one he better give up texting while driving because he's gonna get nailed with a big fine if he don't but what do I know??

By the time I find trac phone and find glasses and turn on extra light, I usually miss call. Then I gotta hope they are still ready for me to call back. EYESIGHT IS PRECIOUS. You bet!!!

I don't know the name of the phone, but I put my dad on my plan and got the phone from Verizon. It's very simple and has large numbers. He's 80 and it works for him.

I use T-mobile To Go as well and always purchase the $100-1,000 minute card which ensures 12 months of service thus preserving my phone number.

Problem I've encountered is that T-mobile has apparently switched 3rd party providers and I don't get as strong of a signal as I once did.

Dead zone for all cell phones except AT&T in the town my kids moved to. Useless when I visit or even get close to there. AT&T and dead zone too until they installed a tower right there in the town.
