Question for the flat belt experts

I have a leather laced belt that needs re-lacing. I have the leather. Can anyone provide any helpful tips? Also, the canvas is coming off in a place or two. Will this make it jump off or can I get a little more use out of this belt before I buy a new one?

I can't tell you how to lace it, but I have used them with layers peeling off and rips half way across. They eventually fly apart. I use them until they do.

I have a machinery handbook from the 40's that goes
into a lot of detail on the subject.

I'd be happy to scan it and post some pix if you
like.

email me pfoxyATyahooDOTcom if you want, and I'll do
that this evening.

no belt expert but when we laced belts for machinery
long time ago with leather after putting the holes
in both sides of the belt . keep the lacing straight
on the pulley side and cross over on the top . maybe
this helps.

I have a 6" Clipper vise lacer for sale. It is good used as I went to a floor mounted lacer. I have hooks to send with the unit.
Either e-mail or call late evenings.

I worked in a wood shop many years ago. There was a long conveyor belt that was coming apart.I told the boss to get some copper harness rivets. That fixed the belt.
