JD 4320 Hyd. trouble

I have a 4320. Great tractor except it's been giving us fits with the hydraulics. Sometimes, I'll lose all the hydraulics at the outlets and my steering will go too. Then after a while, the pump will get to chattering and things will wake up again. If it's anymore help it seems to happen the majority of the time when backing up. Any ideas?

you holdn the clutch down? what are you useing the remotes for backing up?

hyd pump won't pump with clutch engaged.

The trans pump is driven by the clutch and if the clutch is depressed then the pump don't work, losing steering, brakes, and pto engagement. This pump also sends charge oil to the front(main) pump and you can lose high pressure oil to the 3pt and remotes. If you're using the 3pt or the remotes while holding the clutch down you will lose steering, brakes, ect.. even quicker.

You could also have a plugged filter or pickup screen limiting oil flow making the oil pressure run out sooner.

You might also have a high pressure leak to sump, meaning a hydralic part, brake valve, scv, steering, rockshaft valve, or pto valve might need overhauling or replacement. Just by feeling the housing after the tractor has been running for a bit(housing is warm/hot to the touch) might tell you which valve is the problem. I'm leaning towards the pto valve. chris
