How bad did I break it?

Bush hogging with 706 German Diesel. Forgot there was a hedge post set in about 1 yard of concrete in the bushes. Hit the post with the right front wheel. The impact bruised my hand and instantly I lost power steering and Hy-tran is pouring out near the front of the engine, left side. I can feel steel lines there inside the frame channel.
How bad do you think I hurt it?

Gene

Maybe ruptured one of the steel lines, they like to rust in that area. There are also orings in the steering gear setup that could be blowen.

And you need to stop telling people how to think and live.
You and your ilk have had a 50 year free run of total ownership of our press, media and educational system and yet you have not been able to eradicate the sentiments you find so offensive in Gene.
Why is that?
Oh, and if you are going to answer my question by impugning Gene give it up. Your tired old bleating that it is because he is bad or stupid doesn't work any more. I'm looking for answers.
And I wont be shouted down. And I can't be shamed or humiliated by you.

Yep!! He is just a TROLL!! 1 th@ should be got rid of!! (If one believes in controlling folks) Better 2 get rid of HIM than keep gzorching WHOLE THREADS!! I, 4 1 get FRUSTR8ED by DISAPPEARING posts!! CC, who 1ders just when THIS THREAD will get gzorched!!

We all know Tom is an idiot from the many head up his *@@ comments he makes. This one just shows how close he is coming to being a total fool like our own dear MN Joe.
Gene, I do apologize for the trash that lowlife spew, you had a very serious tractor question, and I hope you find it is not a difficult repair.

You may have just overloaded the pump system and blown a seal. I had a guy down here to that on a Ford tractor. Hardest part was getting everything out of the way to get to the pump.

Bummer all he wanted was how bad he hurt his tractor?
Walt

PS Gene just forget the Idiots and learn from the rest of us. It looks like you will have to open her up and look for the damage. Let us know how bad it was. And find out who put that darn cement block there and get a Lawyer giggle.

I'd get an assistant, put more fluid back in the tractor, and while he starts the tractor, try to see where the leak is. As you start to pin it down, use mirrors, etc. to home in on it. I'm not familiar with your particular tractor, but most power steering situations involve pretty massive parts removal to get at- you'll save a lot of time if you can pinpoint the problem, and just remove enough stuff to get the new line in, or whatever. All that being said, its probably a seal in the steering unit or pump, and you'll end up with half the tractor strewn around the shop floor anyhow. I wouldn't tackle this without a manual- IT is usually good enough.

What an idiot! When you post your trivial muscle car problems on here, do we come in with racial bs, that is related to an OT topic that you are losing the argument on? No, either we clam up, and not respond, or tell you how to fix it. What a pathetic piece of garbage, STFU.

Did you hit it in such a way as to force the front wheels all the way to one steering stop? Or fairly straight on, so they didn't spin much, just stopped short?

If the latter, I'd suspect you jarred something loose that was about to let go. There are 2 lines- supply and return- running from the MCV (I think front, not sure) to the oil cooler just inside the LH frame rail. If you remove the front grill, there are 2 steel lines that I believe connect to the steering cylinder. They are in a low spot, where dirt and water collect, and they like to rust out. the oil cooler lines are low pressure. maybe a rubber hose just worked itself off the steel line it used to be clamped to?

If the former, probably a seal, o ring, etc in the power steering cylinder. can't help on that one.
