Hello from the Yukon, I need to know if the engine from a 2010 will fit into a 1010. I believe the 2010 had a 145 and the 1010 has a 115 block. Any first hand experience would be great to talk with. Thanks Nate

The way I understand it the 1010 and 2010 used the same block/engine just different tranny and stuff from the engine back. So yes it should bolt right in

Others have posted that it will fit. I have no knowledge about that. But the 1010 is reputed to have a weak drivetrain and the larger engine may really create problems.

Just a different deck plate with larger pistons in the 2010 and 45 combine engines are the same. The 40 combine is same as in the 1010 and for week gears our old J D mechanic that woorked for the Deere dealer also farmed and he had put a 45 combine 145 engine in his 1010 and with standard over the shelf J D parts that engine was putting out 60 horse on the PTO and he did all his plowing with it pulling 3-14" in heavy soil.

Thanks folks I think I will have my uncle ship up that 145 and give it a try. I will be back to tell you all how it went in several months! Yes Gordo I have boated the length of the Nisutlin River for hunting and fishing. It is one of my favorite weekend river trips. Nate

The insides of the block are different between a 1010 and a 1020.
You can't put a 2010 deck plate in a 1010 or vise versa. Don't
know how the outside would be to bolt up.

Gas or diesel?
The 1010 had a much beefier r&p than it's 420/430 ancestors. In particular after serial # 31,001.
I would still hesitate putting good $$$ into a 1010/2010 when it could be spent on something better.

The 115 that came out is a gas and the 145 G is also a gas. The tractor was given to me so I don't mind spending a little bit on it as the rest of the trany and loader worked great!

The 2010 deck plate the block has to be bored for and you can't go the other way as it would be bored too big.
