Finished the harvest. Looks like we had a 55 bu per acre average. Wish it would be that good every year. The old 95 did a nice job, albiet a little slow. All in all things went real nice and there were no troubles. Feels good to get the first crop in after being away from farming for a few years.

Nice pics. I miss doing small grain. Seen the pics you posted earlier, that is one nice looking old 95. Is that ground going back into anything else??

I was going to plant some beans in the stubble, but the straw spreader did such a poor job of spreading the straw, hence the big windrows, that I don't think the beans will come up under them, so I'm going to probably plow it under. Last year we had an antique plow days on the ground. It is mostly sandy/sandy loam and plows beautiful. It's mostly pretty loamy, but there are some sand spots so I need to keep some trash in the ground to hold it together. The farm was my grandfathers, now owned by my Aunt and Uncle. It has been farmed by our family for 86 years. My other Uncle, who was 82 when he quit farming farmed it for several years, and retired last year. My Aunt wanted a family member to farm it and since I have several antique tractors, she came to me. I decided what the heck, but then decided I had better get some newer eqt. The combine was a spur of the moment deal when we went to look at a field cultivator from a retired farmer.

The pictures were taken after only about 20 acres or so. The combine had been shedded all it's life except for about 2 years, which was when we bought it last fall. We shedded it after we got it, but things were a little rusty, but not real bad. After about 4 - 5 hours things were shinning up pretty good.

Now that looks like real farming. Equipment that doesn't cost much and it gets the job done. And having fun at the same time. Just a little envyous at this end. Have a good season.

Nice pics! A neighbor used to run about 500 acres of corn beans and wheat per year through a JD95. Slow by comparison to the new ones, but it did a really good job.

You're right John. A 95 will do a very nice job of cutting/cleaning wheat. They were a good machine in their day. Still work good if they were taken care of.
