Family F-12 Farmall

I have delivered a Farmall F-12 to my home which was owned by my Uncle Morris who passed away last year.
It is a 1934 F-12, serial # S12064; has a fuel pump/sediment bowl (which I was told is a bit unusual), rubber on the front (I was told that someone did a front end swap with Uncle Morris because they really wanted the origional single steel wheel), Steel wheels on the rear(I have all-I hope- of the lugs), and an attached 2-row cultivator unit. That cultivator has been attached as long as I can remember (I am 56yrs. old now).
The best, I know based on family discussions, is that the tractor was purchased in/after 1934 by my Granpa Carl Ysen. Uncle Morris took over the family farm after Grandpa's passing away.
Since Uncle Morris' passing, my mom and the rest of the sisters have been going through paperwork and have not found anything relating to the sale of the tractor for verification. No owners manual and related stuff have been found either.
There is a bracket on the fuel pump side of the motor, which looks like he may have had a generator on it at one time. I do not remember the tractor having one.
I plan to put a drawbar on the tractor to pull wagons in the future. Getting it running after being dormant (because of a failed fuel pump, he said, in the late 1990's)is my first priority.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You.

Paul,

Glad to hear you're trying to keep history alive.
All the F12's with the IH engine had fuel pumps so it's not a rare item. If your tractor has a generator bracket on the lower water hose elbow on the block that is a rare part. The field cultivator mounted on it is a plus also. There are not many implements left for these old tractors any more and they are becoming more of a collectable than the tractors themselves. To get the fuel pump rebuilt give Claude Phillips of Fairfield Illinois a call. Sorry I don't have is number any more. He rebuilds fuel pumps and has a quick turn around time.
Many of the engine parts are available from you local Napa or Carquest store. The F12 uses the same pistons and sleeves as the Farmall A,B & C engines. Log on to the website below and call or send for a list of parts on the F12, F14. also check out joesexternal_link

I still have my Dad's F12. It was his first tractor after he stoped using horses. His F12 had a cultivator, buck rake, and bean cutter atachments. Nothing left of the implements except two bean cutting knives. Stan

I have my Grandpa's Oliver 60 that had sat on blocks in my uncle's machine shed for 30+ years. He had drained all of the fuel and coolant from it, so the carb was actually in good condition. The sleeve seals dried out though and would leak all of the water into the crankcase. Probably the biggest problem was in the transmission. Everything above the oil level in the trans had rusted. When I restored the tractor, I had to replace all of the bearings in the trans to quiet it down.
You might want to pull the oil pan off the engine to see what's inside. There were large amounts of sludge in my Oliver's engine pan. If you think your engine is in good condition and you don't plan to overhaul it, cleaning out any sludge would be wise in my opinion. These old tractor engines usually had a bypass oil filter meaning only a small amount of the oil pumped to the engine goes through the filter. The oil from the filter goes back to the pan. Any dirt, etc gets pumped into the bearings, etc.

Paul,
here is a picture out of my F12 book, I have several of these catalogs left if you would want one let me know.
