Am in the process of beginning to restore an Avery "V" The drive shaft continues to turn even when in neutral position . Is this normal ? When engageing clutch it stops turning enough to put in gear . Any info would be helpful . Brian

Can you stop it by hand when it's in neutral? Sounds like it's just drifting to me. Pretty normal. An implement hooked up to it would probably stop it. rw

If I am not mistaken on that tractor the clutch is on the engine and a drive shaft then connects the transmission that is in conjunction with the differential like on the F series Farmalls and not like on a truck that the transmission is connected to the clutch with the drive shaft then going to the differential. So when the clutch is enguaged the drive shaft will turn as all your gearing is at the rear of the drive shaft, not the front.
