Installing Belt on GTV-18 Varidrive?

My father acquired a GTV-18 Varidrive mower and it runs like a champ but just needs the belt put on and routed. He asked a local repair guy but he either didn't want to be bothered or didn't know how. Never heard anything back from him. I took a look at it and it don't look like it would be too hard, just need to know the routing diagram for it. Your help would be greatly appreciated as then he wouldn't have to push mow his huge yard anymore.

MM,
Which belt do you need to put on. I have the same mower and have replaced the belts a few times over the years.

He was sold just one large belt and was told that it only took the one. Looks like it goes on a pulley on the engine, 2 seperate pulleys and then to the deck pulley and over to another pulley that runs to another pulley on the tranny. Is there just one large serpentine style belt besides the little belt goint between the 2 pulleys at the tranny?

There are 4 belts coutning the one on the deck. The deck is driven off the mule assembly which is powered from the pully mounted on the front of the engine. The rear pully on the engine drives the primary drive via the two idler pulleys and the sheave variator. These belts MUST be the originals sold at Sears. Replacemt belts will not work....period! If you need help with part numbers let me know. I have the manuals for the tractor, deck and most attachments. When the tractor is right it is a good machine with ample power. The deck is no longer available bust most other parts are still available through Sears. The unit was built by the Roper Company for Sears in the late 70's.

Sounds like somebody didn't know what they were talking about when they sold him his belt. If you could send a pic and details on the routing installing along with part #'s that would be awesome. Just by looking at it, didn't look too difficult but when he said a single belt ran through all that I was like that don't seem right. Email me at [email protected] if you can send the info. Thx. Mike
