Wd 9 rear main oil seal leak

I have what i think is a rear engine main oil seal leak. I have been informed by someone else on this sight that I don"t have to remove the engine. Everything I need to do to replace this seal can be done through the access cover above the clutch. What confuses my about this is how can I remove the clutch and flywheel to access the oil seal retainers. Does the transmission input shaft not fit inside of the engine crankshaft? Anybody that can shed some light on this would be appreciated.

There is a coupler behind the clutch that you take apart. The clutch disk, pressure plate assembly and shaft can them be removed.
