10 of us hit the woods yesterday and came back with over 200 black sponge . S.E. Indiana , love the mushrooms . For the most part the girls were hunting and us men was hanging around the ATV s drinking beer !

I was a "kid" in SE Indiana, I grew up living in Clifty Falls State park in Madison where my grandfather was Superintendent BOY DIE WE FIND MUSHROOMS THERE.

Then in the seventies I bought a farm just south of Versailles Indiana (North of Madison on 421)

Home is south central Indiana now Bloomington

I agree, the guys suckin down a few long necks around the ATV may be more fun then draggin thru the brush lol

Still a little cool here, we got plenty of moisture last week so all we need are a few sunny days. No reports of anyone finding any here in Central MO. I saw an ad in a local ad finder advertising morels for sale. $30 a pound.
A little rich for my blood.

Hey Gene you might want to start looking we found about three dozen little gray mushrooms and got real lucky found six and a half pounds if red ones around one tree! I don't think that will happen again!! Good luck!

I have found in the past, looking around soft maple trees and dead elm trees seem to be the best place to hunt mushrooms this time of the year. Any one else notice this?

Around here in NW KY I seem to find most of them around large poplar trees. Buddy of mine called last night, he and his wife found about 60 real quick. I have not had a chance to go but hope'n to Tuesday or Wendesday weather permiting.

We re west of the Brookville lake . The black ones seam can be about anywhere but the big yellow and white is best around a Elm that has died and the bark is just starting to fall off .
