I have found a 1970's era International 424, 40 hp tractor with less than 1000 hours on it. It has a new seat, power steering and independent PTO. Can anyone give me the worth of this tractor? Are there any sites like the Kelly blue book that gives the wholesale/retail prices on tractors? Thanks..

No idea on the value, but I think the PTO is by a 2 stage clutch.

NOT a "seventy's" tractor. They were made from 1964 through 1967.

A "gasser" is worth perhaps $3500, a diesel MAYBE $1000 more.

I have one with a loader and it is for sale for 5500.00. You can t touch one around here for less than 6000.00

what is a two stage clutch? My current tractor is a 49 8N....

The flywheel/pressure plate assembly has two different friction discs. One is attached to the transmission input shaft, the other to the PTO drive shaft. When you push the clutch about half way down the transmission clutch is released. When you go all the way down the PTO clutch is released. It allows you to operate the PTO without the transmission being powered but the PTO will always engage before the transmission. It gives you live PTO but not independent PTO.
