570 case tractor

I have a 570 case tractor that stopped running. I was wandering how much torq it should take to turn the engine over with the head removed? Everything looks good the bearings cylinder walls and even the bearings on the crank but it still seems kind of tight but smooth.

Lynn, I don't know how much torgue it takes but you should be able to turn it over by turning the fan blade fairly easy. You may have to pull the pistons out and see if they are scared. They will scar with out marking the walls. Do you know what caused it to quit running? Did it just die or just loose speed gradually and stop? What kind of work were you doing when it quit? Did you check compression before pulling the head? That's a good way of checking the pistons and rings. How many cylinders are there in this engine. What did you gauges read before it stopped? Sorry for all the questions. But these are the things I would be looking at if it were mine.

I ws running a grain auger it started to slow down like the motor came under a heavy load. I shut the auger off then but didnt help. I shut off the engineand after about a minute I tried cranking the engine wouldn"t even try to turn over couldn"t crank engine for nothing so we thought it was locked up started to tear the engine down took the oil pan off thought there might be metal shavings nothing took the head off nothing out of the ordinary we tried turning the engine over with the 1/2 drive nut in the front of the engine I bet it took about 50 to 75 ft lbs. of torq to rotate it. I didnt know if that was because the transmission or if the hydraulic pump has anything to do with it. The inside of the cylinders walls look unbelievable oil pan was very clean also.
