Houly rate for tractor work

What is a reasonable rate to charge for my 47 HP Kubota with front end loader and rear blade. Did some dirt work and pushed several roads through a clear cut area for deer hunting roads and club wants to pay me but i am not sure of rate. I did 4 hours of non stop work here in Central Louisiana.

Any help appreciated.

I'd figure out what it costs to run your machine an hour, if you had to haul it, and how far you did, then add some to it. Thats how I do it.

While I didnt set out to charge this way in figuring what I charge for each power unit its pretty close to 1.00 per horsepower hour. I get a little more than that for the skidloader and dozer, and a little less for the tractors but that hits at the ball park. For 86 hp tractor and me, plus machine I charge 60.00 an hour, skidloader 65hp is 75.00 and hour, and the dozer is 85.00 for 75 hp. Minimum is 2 hrs on the skid loader, and 4 hours on the tractor and dozer. Time starts when I start on the job, travel time up to 20 miles each way is included except for the dozer, over that its 2.50 per loaded mile. Dozer if less than 30 hours is 100.00 to set up on the job for 20 miles or less and 3.00 per loaded mile beyond that.

If you're going to try to figure what it costs you per hour you'll need to get your accountant involved in order to be sure to get all of the cost components. so I think that you are better off with KYHayman's info

I like kyhayman's setup. I get $75.00 per hr for my 75 hp tractor. Dozer work is more @ $105 per hr. If I have to add a ground man that price is $50 per hour. I just try to charge what I think is fair for all involved. Just let your customers know up front what the rates are and the rest will take care of itself.

Have to pay the tractor and out of that hourly amount you have to pay the operator (wage, taxes, etc) and operating expenses (transportation, fuel, oil, repairs, monthly payment, taxes, etc).

As a comparison... For me to have silage custom chopped the 6 row chopper runs $400 per hour w/ operator..... that's $4K / day just to cut and chop corn and blow it into a truck or wagon... That also has to get paid...

$1.00 PER HP sounds like agood way to price work. I charge $35 to $40 an hour to mow with brush hog with my 27 HP FWD and if you see some of the hill sides here in WV they want you to mow you would know why . Some I just tell to get someone else to do it.

Please, its really not that complicated. Anyone with basic mathematical skills and a little brains can do it.

I charge $50 and hour with a $200 Min if I have to travel far. I only charge for actual time that the tractor is running.
For you tractor you might want to add a few bucks for fuel.

50/H. That's what I charge anyway.
I was at 70/H for the 70-100 hp tractors depending on what they're doing, but I think that's going to at least 80/H.
I drive them where I'm going. Time is figured from when I get in the seat until I leave the seat. Tires on asphalt cost money too.
The buck/hp-hr sounds like quite a reasonable method of calculating a price to me as well.

I like your idea, i told him 200.00 for 4 hours which is 50 and hour and i have a 47hp Kubota.

I worked about six hours for a hunting club about a month ago and they gave me 100.00 and 55 gallons of diesel, I came out smelling like a rose on that deal and I did not ask for any of it.
