Farm magazines of the 40s,50s and 60s

Most of the magazines mentioned are still available today.

I can't think of any that have quit publishing that did in the 60's, can you?

Jack,
Seems to me like this magazine was called "Capper"s Weekly". Maybe it was a different magazine. We used to get that in the mail when I was a kid.
How about "Life" magazine when it was a large sized magazine. And that racy "Esquire" magazine had those neat pics of scanty women; Dad stopped the subscription when he noticed that I was noticing.

And for we Washingtonians, the Washington Farmer, later changed to Washington Farmer Stockman. Large format, made of newsprint, no glossy cover. When I quit cattle in the early '80's, I didn't re-subscribe, but they kept sending it anyhow, for about 10 more years. I guess they needed the circulation to keep ad prices up. Don't know if it still exists or not- They merged with some other magazine, and sure enough, the free ride ended in short order.

I can look but I'm pretty sure it was Capper's Farmer. It's 1941 edition with the front and back covered with a farm scene with WC tractors and Allis equipment. About the size of the old Farmers magazine. It's addressed to my Great Grandpa. I also have some old 1970's farm wife magazines, can't remember name of magazine. No racy photos but it has tractor ads and all the tractors ads are for Case for some reason.

Country Gentleman was the best! It had everything. I have a bunch of old issues and just going through them is a treat. The ads alone are worth the cost. Things have really gone down hill since those days.
