We have a 2003 two wheel drive 7810 John Deere that we are thinking about putting a FWA on it. The FWA is off of a John Deere 6410. Any ideas. Thanks

Waaaaaaaaaaaaay too light. You put that on a 7810 and you'll be replacing the front end within a season.

Maybe it would be ok if they always drove like those tractor-pullers with the front wheels off the ground?

I would think that if you're considering a swap like that you would by now be nose deep into the service manuals and parts books.

1. You need to determine if the two wheel drive tractor has or can be adapted to accept a transfer case. I'm more familiar with Fords, but back in their day they had different housings. There wasn't an arpeture for the transfer case on the two wheel drive.... So figure that out first.

2. Next thing to figure out is whether or not the MFWD axle and front bolster will fit. It might. It might not... Again, dig in the parts book.

3. Assuming all else is a go, then you'd look at the ratios. you'd need to compare the transmission output ratio, transfer case ratio and rear axle ratios of the two tractors to see that they are compatiable. There are often several transfer cases and ratios used to adapt according to rear tire size. There are also different transmission output ratios that are sometimes used for the same reason. You need to make sure that you get the correct lead on the front axle which is generally between 1% and 5%.

It's probably easier to just trade tractors and get the MFWD inthe size you need rather than go thorough all that work...

youre going to need the clutch off the 7610. the 2wd one will just have a plate where the clutch is on the other one just bolt it in no probelems. im not sure if the wiring harness is there or not so you might want to look at that. other than that it should work
